Walter C. Bostic
MOUNT VERNON — Walter Clyde Bostic, 90, of Mount Vernon died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon.
Walter was born April 7, 1918, in Russell County, Va., to Taze Howard Bostic and Annie (Keen) Bostic and had spent most of his lifetime in the Knox County area where he maintained a farm near Centerburg. Walter was a member of the Fairview Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle (Blankenship) Bostic; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Fred Wright of Palm Bay, Fla., Jane and Rick Henthorn of Mount Vernon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Vicki Bostic of Mammoth Springs, Ark., and James and Peggy Bostic of Fredericktown; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Claude Bostic, Hasel Bostic, Acey Bostic and Lee Bostic; four sisters, Pansy Sherman, Ella Mae Stratman, Grace Webb and Mabel Webb; a granddaughter, Valerie (Wright) Goodwin; and a great-grandson, Christopher Cimaglia.
Friends may call Monday, May 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. The funeral service will be Tuesday, beginning at 11 a.m., with Pastor Bill Fennell officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg.
