Maria ‘Mary’ Caruso
MOUNT VERNON — Maria T. “Mary” Schiano Caruso, 88, of Dixie Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday evening, May 7, 2008, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon surrounded by her family.
She was born May 18, 1919, in Jamesburg, N.J., a daughter of the late Joseph and Fannie (Rufino) Profita. Mary was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. She was a retired clerk for the City of Jamesburg, N.J.
Mary is survived by her loving family, Elaine (Ronald) Silverman of Mount Vernon and Allan (Loretta) Schiano Sr. of Monroe Township, N.J.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Dominick Schiano; her second husband, John A. Caruso Sr., on May 1, 2008; and several brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 10, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 10, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. A graveside service will held Friday, May 16, at noon in the St. James Cemetery in Jamesburg, N.J.
