Helen W. Callihan
MOUNT VERNON — Helen W. Callihan, 91, of Mount Vernon died Monday, May 12, 2008, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.
Helen was born Aug. 11, 1916, in Gibsonburg to J. Edward and Alice M. (Driftmyer) Wichman and had been a resident of Mount Vernon since 1948. She had been employed as a secretary for Dr. H.E. Kiracofe, O.D., in Mount Vernon for 20 years, retiring in 1978. Helen was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon and had served as a volunteer at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are her sons, Dr. Thomas R. (Robin) Callihan M.D. of Cordova, Tenn., and Douglas E. Callihan of Roanoke, Va.; and three grandchildren, Elisabeth Callihan, Patrick Callihan and Katherine Callihan.
Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Wheeler Callihan, whom she married Sept. 24, 1938; and her brother, Willis Wichman.
Friends may call today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 15, at 10 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Mark Wildermuth officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
