Ernest E. Williams

BRYAN — Ernest E. Williams, 76, of Bryan died at 12:19 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan, where he was a patient.

Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by Freightway Corp. in Defiance, and retired with 15 years of service. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Bryan, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 221 in Bryan. Ernie enjoyed his retirement with family, children, grandchildren and friends.

Ernest E. Williams was born July 19, 1931, in Mount Vernon, the son of Ernest E. and Monica A. (Botkin) Williams. He married Margaret A. Zimmerman on Jan. 23, 1960, in Mount Vernon, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Williams is survived by his children, Kerri (Carl) Ferguson of Plain City and Michael L. Williams of Angola, Ind.; five grandchildren, Logan, Tyler, Kinzie, Malcolm and Garrett. He is also survived by five brothers, Dennis (Sue) Williams, Jim (Mij) Williams, Tom Williams, Harrison Williams, Bob (Pat) Hoagley; three sisters, Nila (Ed) Leedy, Dorothy Giffin, Donna Squires; and one deceased sister, Maryann Williams.

Memorial service for Ernest E. Williams will be Saturday, May 17, at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Bryan, with Pastor Richard Franks officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in the name of Ernest E. Williams may be given to the First Lutheran Church of Bryan, Ohio; or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be sent to and the online register signed at www.krillfuneralservice.com.
