Joseph M. Roop
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Joseph Marshall Roop passed away May 19, 2008.
Joe was born on Nov. 12, 1933, in Louisville, Ky., to Joseph W. Roop and Beatrice Mason Roop.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, and his daughters, Melissa Rosser (David) and Elizabeth Hope (Nasir), both of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Katlynd, Hannah and Emily Rosser, and Alex and Julie Hope; son, Joseph G. Roop of Redding, Calif.; daughters, Pam Kirkland (Ed) of Choctaw, Okla., Jonette Bingham of Yreka, Calif., and Katherine Kizziah (Barry) of Duncanville, Ala.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Ernest Roop (Teddi); and sister, JoAnn Devore.
Joe served in the Marine Corps for four years and was a member of the Lassen Janesville Masonic Lodge 149 in Susanville, Calif. He spent many years employed in law enforcement in Medford, Ore., Yreka, Calif., Fredericktown, Ohio, and retired in 1996 as police chief of the Mount Vernon Developmental Center Police Department in Mount Vernon. Since retirement, he worked part time for SOA in Las Vegas.
Services will be held Tuesday, May 27, at noon at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nev.
