Martin ‘Greg’ Peltan
MOUNT VERNON — Martin Gregorey “Greg” Peltan, 68, of Yauger Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, May 23, 2008, at the Summerville at HillenVale.
He was born Dec. 22, 1939, in Mount Vernon to the late Harold and Dorothy (Rine) Peltan. Greg served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962. He worked 38 1/2 years before retiring in 1998 as a data base administrator for the Civilian Defense Service Center where he was awarded the Distinguished Career Service Medal. Greg was a member of Masonic Lodge 199 and Moose Lodge 2555, and was a founding member of Pacemakers Dragway in Mount Vernon. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by two sons, Michael Peltan of North Bend, Wash., Mark Peltan of Saint Clair Shores, Mich.; two grandchildren, Phillip and Katie Peltan; a brother, David (Paulette) Peltan of Centerline, Mich.; three sisters, Jeanne (Gary) Simon of Warren, Mich., Paula Peltan of Centerline, Mich., Regena Peltan of Boulder, Colo.; stepmother, Martha Peltan of Ocala, Fla.; many nieces and nephews; special friends and caretakers, Sue and Keith Colopy of Centerburg and Karlyn Rudrick of Centerburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call Wednesday, May 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Military service provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow the service.
