Betty L. Kean
HOWARD — Betty Lee (Maratta) Kean, 80, of Howard went home to be with her Lord on Monday June 2, 2008, after an extended illness.
Born June 14, 1927, in Youngstown, she was a daughter of the late James and Vera (Werlein) Maratta. She retired from the Defense Construction Supply Center (DCSC) in 1990 after 22 years of service as a Procurement Officer. Betty was an active member of the River of Life Church, a volunteer at Hospice of Knox County and Pregnancy Crisis Center of Mount Vernon. She was a former chapter president of Aglow, member of Apple Valley Garden Club and Singles Club.
She is survived by loving children, Terrence (Carol) Williams, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., Jennifer (Glenn) Crabtree, Oregonia, Ohio, Cynthia Adams and Pamela (Don) Larimer, both Reynoldsburg, and James (Karen) Williams of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren, Carrie Howell, Kellie Teller, Kristina Probst, Colin, Carly, Jessica and Kassandra Williams, Tiffany Rice, Melanie Larimer, Brittany Adams, Heather Clark, Amy and Tim Crabtree; and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, James Maratta.
An avid traveler, Betty made friends wherever she went and touched many lives. Her love for the Lord, her loving, generous nature and ministering spirit will be remembered by all. Betty will be dearly missed by her family as well as her many friends in Apple Valley and all who knew her.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A service of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Jubilee Foursquare Gospel Church, 509 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
