Evalyn M. Hauger

HOWARD — Evalyn M. Hauger, 73, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the OSU James Cancer Hospital in Columbus.

She was born March 14, 1935, in Mount Vernon to Edwin W. and Francis (Fawcett) Conkle. On Sept. 23, 1956, she was married to James R. Hauger. She was a longtime and very active member of the Howard United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the former Howard Garden Club, and loved playing euchre every month with her card club friends.

Evalyn is survived by her husband, James of Howard; children, Rich (Sandi) Hauger of Mount Vernon, Lou Ann Shultz of Danville, Tim Hauger of Howard and Amy (Larry) Chandler of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Cash and Cassandra Hauger, Ethan Shultz, and Max and Wes Chandler; a sister, Kathryn (Bob) Morey of Gambier; and a brother, John (Isabelle) Conkle of Mount Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edwin Conkle; a sister, Margaret Frank; and a son-in-law, Chuck Shultz.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 7, at 10 a.m. at the Howard United Methodist Church. The Rev. Lee Cubie will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Monroe Township. There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to the Howard UMC, P.O. Box 95, Howard, OH 43028. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements.
