Karen E. Vonck

MOUNT VERNON — Karen E. Vonck, 46, of Orchard Drive, Mount Vernon, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Dec. 17, 1961, in Toledo to John and Caroline (Kertesz) Tscherne. Karen was a registered nurse and was employed most recently at the Autumn Health Care here in Mount Vernon. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Karen loved and cherished the time she had with her husband, children, family and friends. She will always be remembered for her glowing smile, her selflessness, and her unwavering faith.

She is survived by her husband, Toby Vonck; a son, John (Emily Lybarger) Vonck of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Mary Vonck of Mount Vernon and Aubry Vonck of Mount Vernon; her mother, Caroline Tscherne of Toledo; two brothers, John (Karen) Tscherne of Oregon, Ohio, and Dennis (Patrice) Tscherne of Toledo, Ohio; two sisters, Christine (Randy) Shaneck of Northwood, Ohio, and Sharon (Frank) Wasserman of Oregon, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her father, John Tscherne; and a nephew, Frankie Wasserman.

Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, with a vigil service beginning at 8 p.m. and on Friday from noon to 1 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Friday beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Vonck Family.
