Glenn ‘Joe’ Hawkins
MOUNT VERNON — Glenn M. “Joe” Hawkins, 87, of Mount Vernon died June 6, 2008, at Centerburg Point Nursing Home.
He was born May 2, 1921, in Greer to Henry E. and Bertha Mae (Stumbaugh) Hawkins. Glenn was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a 30-year employee of PPG.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Hawkins of Centerburg; son, Matthew (Barbara) Hawkins of Centerburg; daughter, Lorraine (Dan) Foley of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Hannah and Emma Hawkins, and James, Andrew and Michael Foley; and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Matt and Frank Hawkins; and two sisters, Bernice Kirkpatrick and Verna Day.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, with Sister Jean Welling S.C. officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Burial will be in Amity Cemetery.
