Oliver W. Beekman
CENTERBURG — Oliver Wayland Beekman, 76, of Centerburg died early Monday morning, June 9, 2008, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 30, 1931, in Waverly to the late Oscar and Maggie (Hakes) Beekman. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict, he had resided in Westerville for 35 years, moving to Centerburg in 1996. A tile installer by trade, he owned and operated A&O Floor Co. out of his home in Westerville, retiring in 1996.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Mary H. (Wuertz); sons, Tom (Jennie) of Centerburg and Jerry (Jodi) of Westerville; four grandchildren, Angela, Jeffrey, Joseph, Allison; sisters, Elsie Glass, Edith (Bill) Coe and Edna Whitt; and brothers, Dennis (Annalee) and Leon (Mildred).
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ottie; and sister, Zelma Brown.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ronald Wolter. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery.
