Ernie R. Adkins

MARENGO — Ernie R. Adkins, 59, of Marengo died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 17, 2008, in Saint Ignace, Mich.

He was born March 3, 1949, in Marengo to the late Emmett Sr. and Ina (Phelps) Adkins. Graduate of Highland High School Class of 1967, U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and he attended Christ the King Community Church in Fredericktown. Ernie was a machinist for Rolls-Royce in Mount Vernon. Member of the VFW and the National Wild Turkey Federation.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kim G. (Dowler) Adkins; sons, Ernie II and Brian, both of Columbus; 13 brothers and sisters; brother-in-law, Dick Addison; sister-in-law, Rose; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Mildred Dowler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sister, Hester Addison; and brother, Franklin.

Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. with Dr. Lucian Baker officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Marengo Cemetery.
