Ruby Geneva Barton

BUTLER — Ruby Geneva Barton, 80, formerly of Elm Street, Butler, died Friday, June 20, 2008, in Crystal Care Center, Mansfield, following a long illness.

She was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Swords Creek, Va., to Chris and Elizabeth Dye. Moving to the Richland County area in 1953, Ruby worked as an assembler for the former Hamilton Standard, later to become the Essex Wire Co. She retired after working there 22 years. Ruby attended Bunkerhill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her brother-in-law, Ira (Treva) Shelton of Mansfield; sisters-in-law, Oma Goodman of Butler and Frances Lowe of Bellville; a sister-in-law, Barbara (John) Faber of Sunbury; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carson C. Barton, on Dec. 1, 1974; her son, Steve Barton; and two, sisters Lillian Casey and Ruth Sampsel.

Calling hours were this morning from 10 to 11 in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service immediately followed at 11 a.m. Burial followed in Bunkerhill Cemetery.
