Robert E. Pillow

MOUNT VERNON — Robert E. “Bob” Pillow, 64, of Mount Vernon passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at the Knox Community Hospital emergency room.

He was born Oct. 15, 1943, in Mount Vernon to the late Marion and Alice “Birdie” (Garrad) Pillow. Bob had worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass before retiring in 2006 after 30 years of employment with the Knox County Highway Department. He was a member of the Knox County Fish and Game Association and the Moose Lodge of Mount Vernon. Bob was an avid outdoorsmen and enjoyed hunting and fishing, but nothing was more meaningful to him than watching his grandchildren actively involved with their activities, whether it was cheerleading or Little League baseball games. He will be sadly missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Fuller) Pillow; a daughter, Kathy (Ben) Menke of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Chelsea Menke and Griffin Menke; a brother, Bill (Bev) Pillow of Howard; a sister, Sue (Rex) Atherton of Tiffin; sisters and brother-in-law, Jody Pillow, Wayne (Jane) Fuller, Mavis (Omar) Sutherland and Carol Reed.

Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Merlyn Jones will be officiating. Burial will follow in North Fork Cemetery in Fredericktown.
