George Gialdella Sr.
JOHNSTOWN — George E. Gialdella Sr., 87, of Johnstown died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Friendship Village in Columbus.
He was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Eccles, W.Va., to the late Angelo and Sarah (Daniels) Gialdella. He was a decorated World War II Marine Corps veteran and a retired coal miner. George loved to garden and gave most of his harvest to all his neighbors, friends and family. He was a compassionate loving father and would do anything to help family and friends. He enjoyed salt and fresh water fishing, gardening, teaching card tricks and playing cards.
George is survived by sons, George (Gloria) Jr. of Johnstown, Gerald “Jerry” of Shelbyville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn Mason of Follansbee, W.Va.
He was preceded by one grandson, Ryan; brothers, Jimmy, Frank, Buddy Gene; and sisters, Tracy, Lavern, Floretta, Maxine.
Friends may show their respects on Saturday, June 28, from noon to 1 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury.
