Opal L. Lester
MOUNT VERNON — Opal L. Lester, 82, of Smith Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008, at her daughter’s home in Mount Vernon.
She was born June 7, 1926, in Raven, Va., to the late Victor and Sara (Baldwin) Whitt. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Mansfield.
She is survived by her son, Victor (Melanie) Lester of Mansfield; four daughters, Barb (Brian) Booth of Mount Vernon, Connie (Larry) Ross of Cardington, Brenda (Mike) Wright of Mount Vernon and Nancy Lester of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Lester; an infant son; two sisters, Wadie Stoots and Virginia Whitt; and two brothers, Edward Whitt and Earl Whitt.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jack Christner will be officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
