Richard E. Doyle

WOOSTER — Richard E. Doyle passed away peacefully Friday, July 25, 2008, at West View Manor.

He was born April 27, 1921, in Centerburg to Fern and Edward Doyle, and married Charlotte A. Lepley of Mount Vernon on Sept. 26, 1943. Richard attended Centerburg High School, where he was a star athlete and scholar. After high school, he graduated from Cleveland College of Embalming. He spent the bulk of his career as a manufacturing engineer in the aerospace industry, ultimately retiring from Rockwell International. Richard also served as a grand master in the Masonic Lodge and held office in many civic organizations in Westerville.

Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed by the family he was so devoted to and his many friends, old and new.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Charlotte, and survived by daughters, Sharlee Murphy (Captain Samuel Murphy) of Delaware and Marilyn Dittoe (Dr. James Dittoe) of Wooster; grandchildren, Heather Murphy (David Franseen) of Duluth, Minn., Patrick Doyle Murphy (Katie) of Columbus, Andrew Doyle Dittoe (Jennifer) of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Jill Dittoe and Amy Dittoe, both of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; and great-grandchildren, Isobel and Jack Doyle Murphy of Columbus.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 31, at 11 a.m. at Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg. The Rev. Dale RuLon will officiate. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, OH 44691.
