Eldon E. Workman
DANVILLE — Eldon Elsworth Workman, 93, of 24431 Danville-Amity Road, Danville, died Sunday, July 27, 2008, at home.
He was born March 24, 1915, in Brown Township, Knox County, to the late Elmer E. and Rosa (Kemp) Workman. He was a lifetime resident of the Danville community. He spent the majority of his working years engaged in the occupation of farming, turkey raising, and industry-related phases of that particular aspect of agriculture. He spent the last few years before retirement in the maintenance department of Kenyon College. Mr. Workman was a lifetime member of the North Bend Church of the Brethren. He also was faithful in attendance at the First Baptist Church late in his life.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen Irene (McMahon) Workman; one daughter, Sheila (Glenn) Nyhart; and two sons, Marvin (Sandie) Workman and Norman (Phyllis) Workman. He is also survived by one brother, Ira B. Workman; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; plus several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings in addition to his parents.
A funeral service will be Wednesday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at the Fischer funeral Home in Danville. Pastor Bob Hendrix and James Lifer will officiate. A private burial will be in North Bend Cemetery.
