Tommy J. Babb
UTICA — A funeral service for Tommy J. Babb, 71, of Utica will be held Friday, Aug. 1, at 10 a.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home with Bruce Hissong officiating. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery.
Tommy died July 28, 2008, at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark. He was born Jan. 31, 1937, in Utica to the late W.F. and Elsie (Terry) Babb. Tommy was a 1954 Utica High School graduate and was inducted into the North Fork Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a former board member of Utica Savings, North Fork Board of Education and Utica Fire Department.
Tommy was owner/operator of Babb’s Sohio for 28 years and a rural carrier for U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Utica Historical Society, Utica Sertoma, Utica Jaycees, life member of UTK Club. Tommy was a life member and benefactor member of the NRA.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Maria Babb of Hebron; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Jo and Brian Walters of Utica, Shelly and Doug Geiger of Utica, Sally Fairley of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, William and Verna Babb of Parma; sisters and brother-in-law, Lois and Carl Beeson of Alexandria, Eleanor Weaver of Fort Collins, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carol E. (Smith) Babb, who passed away Jan. 12, 2008; daughter, Kathryn Babb; brother, Donn Babb; brother-in-law, Fred Weaver.
Friends may call Thursday, July 31, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica.
