Paul R. Evarts
SUNBURY — Paul R. Evarts, 90, of Sunbury and Galena died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at Country View of Sunbury.
He was born in Richwood on June 11, 1918, to the late Edgar and Elizabeth Ann (Hancock) Evarts. From 1937 until World War II, he worked with the Norfolk Naval Yard as a welder. He was associated with operating Grand Acres Standard Bred Horse Farm in Galena for over 40 years.
Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Emma Louise (Mantor) Evarts; dear sons, Ronald and Edgar; sisters, Ermma Evarts, Marjorie Mauller and Aloma Sipe; and brothers, Denzil and Charles Evarts.
He is survived by nieces, Joanne, Marlene and Sandy; cousin, Gordon Hancock; and dear friends and care providers, Donna and Tom Dingus of Sunbury.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. with masonic services at 7:30 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Booth and Chaplain Bruce Benzing officiating. Interment will follow in Galena Cemetery.
