Karen S. Drake
FREDERICKTOWN — Karen Sue Drake, 68, of Fredericktown died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Karen was born July 15, 1940, in Mount Gilead to Raymond E. and Ruth (Gordon) Stone. She was a 1959 graduate of Chesterville High School and had spent most of her lifetime in the Morrow County and Knox County areas. For 19 years, Karen had owned and operated Rainbo Klean Laundromat in Fredericktown.
She was a member of the Fredericktown United Methodist Church, where she had participated with the choir for several years. She was an avid supporter and former officer of the Fredericktown Athletic Boosters. Karen enjoyed and took pride in her flower gardens, but her passion in life was spending time with her family, most especially her grandchildren. Karen also was one to keep up with her friends and classmates.
Surviving are her husband, Benjamin S. Drake, whom she married June 10, 1979; her children, Richard H. (Kim) Lyon Jr. of Hickory, N.C.; Michael R. Lyon of Butler and Kimberly S. Lyon Klingenberger of Bucyrus; her stepdaughters, Robyn Daily of Pataskala, Kristinia Drake of Delaware and Chanda Drake of Columbus; her grandchildren, Amanda and Melissa Daily, Zeke, Cody, Mason and Colton Lyon, Katie, Garrett and Samantha Lyon, Tyler Williams, Nate and Jada Klingenberger; and her brothers, Harold Stone of Mansfield and John Stone of Mount Vernon.
Friends may call Friday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, where funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Keith Bohley officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.
