Bob A. McNutt
MOUNT VERNON — Robert Amos “Bob” McNutt, 95, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Knox Community Hospital.
He was born, along with his twin brother, Chester, on Nov. 29, 1912, in Kingsville to Amos and Fanny McNutt. He was a graduate of Miami University, with a bachelor’s degree and Bowling Green University with a master’s of education degree.
Bob McNutt spent a career teaching, coaching, and as a school superintendent in schools such as Suffield Academy, Connecticut, and in Ohio schools at North Fairfield, Dorset, Marion, Kingsville, Jefferson, Danville, and retiring as the Knox County Schools superintendent.
Bob and Eleanor made friends wherever they went and stayed in touch with classmates, students, and friends throughout their lives. Alumni reunions at Miami, Kingsville, and North Fairfield were very special occasions for them.
An avid golfer, Bob loved to get out on the golf course as frequently as the weather and the availability of a willing golfing partner permitted.
Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church of Danville and a member of the Masons.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (Kelly) McNutt; and daughter, Kathy (McNutt) Hollis.
He is survived by his son, Gary, and wife Rosemary McNutt of Stafford, Va., and family; and son-in-law, Ron Hollis of Westlake, and family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, 10:30 a.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. The Rev. Doug Sweet will officiate. Burial will be in Milan Cemetery in Milan. Visiting will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Information is available at www.fischerfuneralhome.com.
