Beverly A. Huffman

FREDERICKTOWN — Beverly A. “Sunshine” Huffman, 69, of Zolman Road, Fredericktown, “A Very Special Caring Person,” passed away Sunday evening, Aug. 17, 2008, at her residence with family at her bedside.

She was born Oct. 22, 1938, in Mount Vernon, a daughter of the late Kenneth E. Vian and Edna Louise (Priest) Vian DeVore. Beverly was a nurse’s aide for Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon for several years and had worked at Bouchard Homes for nine years with MRDD clients.

Beverly enjoyed going camping. She also loved her flower beds and the pond at her home and her little dog, Busy. Her ever endearing smile won Beverly friends where ever she went. She was a most loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, family was everything to Beverly.

Beverly is survived by a “Special Love,” Frank Flecknoe of Fredericktown; a son, Frank (Cristi) Lewis of Mount Vernon; daughters, Peggy (Edward E.) Smith of Fredericktown, Pam (Ronald A.) Carruthers of Howard and Julie (Robert Cockrell) Lewis of Fredericktown; grandchildren, Hollie (T.J.) Curry, Justin (Sarah) Carruthers, Travis Smith, Mitchell Carruthers, Tamara (Jason) Wood, Angela (Jeremey) Knauer, Michelle (Steve) Bowman, Melissa (Roger Warner) Oakes, Derek (Britt Zollars) Lewis and Kameron Lewis; 15 great-grandchildren; a half brother, Stanley Vian of Mount Vernon; and a sister, Donna Wable of Mount Vernon.

In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her stepfather, James DeVore; her first husband, Robert L. Lewis; her second husband, Robert F. Huffman; and a granddaughter, Heather Louise Smith.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m., with pastor Cindy Stiverson officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
