Emily ‘Joan’ Woosley

MOUNT VERNON — Emily G. “Joan” Woosley, 70, of Mount Vernon died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

Joan was born Nov. 23, 1937, in Buchanan County, Va., to Robey Breeding and Virginia Louise (James) Breeding and had been a resident of the Mount Vernon area since 1954. She and her husband Thomas had maintained several businesses in Mount Vernon including Woosley’s Marathon on West High Street and Woosley’s Rentals. Joan loved the outdoors, working in her flower gardens and watching the deer and birds in her back yard. She especially enjoyed Christmastime and the gathering of her family.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas V. Woosley Sr., whom she married July 18, 1965; her daughter, Deborah (Steven) Darling of Apple Valley; her son, Michael Barton of Virginia; stepdaughter, Tammy (Ronald) Orsborn of Mount Vernon; three stepsons, Thomas V. Woosley Jr. and Todd (Judy) Woosley, both of Mount Vernon, and Tim (Beckie) Woosley of Panama City, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, a brother and sister preceded her in death.

Friends may call Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Mound View Cemetery.
