John T. Feightner

HOWARD — John Thomas Feightner, 74, of Floralwood Drive, Howard, passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at his home.

He was born Feb. 5, 1934, in Lorain to the late John and Myrle (Berry) Feightner. John was a graduate of Lorain High School and shortly after graduation he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War where he was a member of the 24th Infantry Division of the 34th Regiment. He received a Business Degree from Bliss College, a bachelor’s degree in Social Psychology from Park College and a master’s degree in Industrial Psychology from Xavier University. John worked as a training administrator for General Motors before retiring in 1987. Upon retirement, John served as a professor for North Carolina State University. He attended the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and had been an Ordained Disciple of Christ Elder.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen A. Feightner of Hilliard; a son, John W. (Lori) Feightner of Utica; two grandsons, Jonathan and Jacob Feightner; a brother, Richard (Connie) Feightner of Piqua; and a sister, Janice (Otis) Keller of Springfield, Mo.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, the Rev. Dr. Connie Feightner; and an infant sister, JoAnne Feightner.

Friends may call today from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Hood will be officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
