WESTERVILLE — Dorothy M. Harkless, 87, of Westerville, formerly Delaware and Ashland, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 29, 2008, at her residence in Feridean Commons.
She was born April 13, 1921, in Columbus to the late Harry and Ruby (Wittkugle) Knies. She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware. Dorothy was a giving person always willing to give more than she received, she put all other’s needs before her own. She had a great sense of humor and a jovial laugh. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and taking care of her family.
She is survived by sons, James (Dottie) Harkless of New Market, Md., Joe (Pam) Harkless of Delaware; daughter, Judy (Ron) Pyle of Westerville; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister: Norma (Norman) DeVictor of Marengo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ned F. Harkless, in 1987; and sister, Helen Ziegler.
Private services for the family will be held Tuesday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury. Private entombment will take place in the Ashland County Memorial Park, Ashland.
