Charles Antill

MOUNT VERNON — Charles F. Antill, 76, of Crestview Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 2, 2008, at his home with family at his bedside.

He was born March 14, 1932, in Mount Vernon, a son of the late Forest and Gladys (Mathers) Antill. Charles retired from the former American National Can in Mount Vernon with 40 years of service as a Laminating Operator. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. Charles also was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4027 in Mount Vernon; and a former member of the AMVETS, the Eagles and the Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Ceetta (Steurer) Antill, whom he married Oct. 25, 1974; a daughter, Janet (Mike) Lewis of Utica; stepchildren, Rhonda (Ron) Doup of Mount Vernon, Danny H. Myers of Walhonding, Geary A. Myers of Mount Vernon, Sherri (Brian) Whited of Fredericktown and Melissa (Tom) Tenney of Fredericktown; grandchildren, Rachel and Randy Van Winkle, William Hershner, Jamie, Ryan and Alexa Doup, Jessica and Shannon Stewart, Cody and Lane Myers, Gary and Kim Burwell, Alicia and Darren Phillis, Katie Whited, and Caleb, Kylie and Erik Tenney; 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, Foster, Forest and Chester Antill; his sisters, Faye Brooks and Francis Peck; and a daughter-in-law, Leona (Horn) Myers.

The family will have a graveside service in the Amity Cemetery on Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tom Myers officiating. The Knox County Joint Veterans Council will conduct military graveside services.
