ROCKLEDGE, Fla. — James Martin Kearns Jr., 75, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, in Rockledge, Fla., after a lengthy battle with COPD.
Born in Stamford, Conn., to James Kearns Sr. and Irene (Balaz) Kearns, he later attended Rogers School and Stamford High. He moved to Mount Vernon, Ohio, where he graduated from St. Vincent de Paul High and then enrolled in Ohio State University. He entered the U.S. Army in 1952 serving in the Korean War.
James is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Lynette (Cupman); daughters, Alisha (Thuan Nguyen), Audrey (Brian Bradley), Colin (Christine Custer) and Paige (Matt DuBois); and his eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his daughter, Maureen Parker, and son, Michael Kearns, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren by a previous marriage.
His first son, James Kearns II, passed away in 1994.
Funeral services were Aug. 30 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Final interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
