Esther I. Rhine

YOUNGSTOWN — Esther Irene Rhine, 93, formerly of 511 North Ave., Girard, passed away Wednesday morning, Sept. 3, 2008, in Heritage Manor in Youngstown where she was a resident.

Born March 27, 1915, in Youngstown, she was the daughter of the late Mervin L. and Lula Mae (Leach) Rhine. Esther came to the Warren area in 1977 from Mount Vernon, where she lived and worked for 32 years. She retired from Continental Can in 1977 after working in the accounting department for 27 years. Esther also worked in the accounting department at Ohio Lamp, General Electric for 13 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Girard and enjoyed crocheting, travel and reading.

Esther is survived by a sister, Miss Donna Rhine of Warren; two brothers, Kenneth Rhine of Bristolville and Luther (Jean) Rhine of Canfield; and by 23 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Pacek, Mrs. Doris Kelly, Mrs. Viola Walsh and Mrs. Grace Burns; and by four brothers, Truman, Harold, Lewis and Frederick Rhine.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at noon at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel, 180 Garfield Drive NE, Warren, The Rev. Betsy Schenk will conduct the service.

According to Esther’s wishes, cremation will take place and burial will be held in the Crown Hill Burial Park at a later date.
