CENTERBURG — Edward E. Stiles, 72, of Centerburg died Sept. 19, 2008.
He was born June 20, 1936, in Marietta, Ga., to the late Edward and Thelma (Barnwell) Stiles. A U.S. Army veteran, he worked in the construction trade with Union Local 423 and had been a resident of Centerburg for the past 10 years. Edward enjoyed his home, traveling and caring for his lawn. He was a member of the Toledo Church of Christ and AMVETS Post 59.
He is survived by his wife, Nell Stiles; daughters, Rose (James) Meade of Delaware, Zina Smith of Decatur, Ill.; son, Phillip J. Fain II of Stone Mountain, Ga.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marlene Johnson and Hazel Riggs of Cincinnati; sister-in-law, Mary (Richard) Ogburn of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
Also preceded in death by brothers, Larry and Lewis Stiles; and sister, Ezma Louise Edmonds.
Memorial service will be Friday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, with Steven Weems officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, after which a dove release ceremony will be held.
