HOWARD — Napoleon B. Wills, 85, of Howard, and formerly of Baltimore, Md., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at the Country Club Retirement Campus.
He was born April 13, 1923, in Charleston, W.Va., to the late Robert and Beulah (Campbell) Wills. Napoleon was a graduate of Philippi High School in Philippi, W.Va., and earned his Bachelor’s of Education degree from Otterbein College in Westerville. He was employed as a teacher for the Baltimore County Public Schools in Maryland and also as a minister in North Dakota, Ohio and West Virginia. After retirement, Napoleon always maintained a street ministry. For many years he attended the Tiverton Regular Baptist Church and has attended the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple this past year. He was a former member of the Baltimore County Board of Education from which he retired in 1986. He was also a music tutor in Knox County and in Baltimore for many years where he taught many instruments but mainly piano and guitar. Napoleon was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
Napoleon is survived by two sons, David B. Wills and Dorian Wills; three daughters, Linda Diane Wills, Kalynn B. Jones and Renee D. Olszewski; 10 grandchildren, Stacy Beard, Jody Wills, David Hurley, Kyle Hurley, Shane Murphy, Rebecca Murphy, Brianna Zakes, Lucia Chacon, Alison Olszewski and Matthew Olszewski; and four great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter Wills, Damon Wills, Charles Wills and Robert Dabbs.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 26, beginning at 3 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Baptist Temple.
