Dorothy E. Brown

MOUNT VERNON — Dorothy Emma (Engelhardt) Brown, 97, formerly of Cedar Street in Danville, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.

She was born July 1, 1911, in Howard to the late Marie (Endsley) and John Engelhardt. She married Ralph W. Brown, who preceded her in death on July 12, 1989. She was a member of the Danville Church of Christ, the Church of Christ Ladies Aid, the Danville Garden Club, and the Knox Chapter 236 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Dorothy is survived by a son, Charles L. (Connie) Brown of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Ruth Ann (Gene) Woods of Danville; grandchildren, Ronald F. (Ann) Brown of Ringtown, Pa., Richard C. (Wendy) Brown of North Granby, Conn., Yvonne (Larry) Clutter of Gambier, Greg (Tanya) Woods of Mount Vernon and RaeJean (Arron) Clark of Sedalia, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Rachael Brown, Rodney (Krista) Clutter, Kelly (Jon) Rush, Timothy (Ashley) Clutter, Daniel Woods, Nicholas (Kristin) Woods and Brennan Woods; great-great-grandchildren, Adrian and Kaiden Clutter, and Landon and Lucy Rush; sisters, Florence Cooper of Killbuck and Mary Lou Scott of Zanesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, John and Asa Engelhardt.

Calling hours will be Friday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Danville Church of Christ on Danville-Jelloway Road (Ohio 205). The funeral service will be held at the Union Grove Church of Christ on Township Road 2 in Holmes County on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. with Craig Mulpas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
