MOUNT VERNON — Lola I. Statler, 85, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.
Lola was born Nov. 18, 1922, in Mount Vernon to “R H” Workman and Mary E. (Johnson) Workman. Lola was a 1940 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and had spent her lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. She had been employed as an administrative assistant for Dr. John Fowler Sr. and then at Cooper Energy Services in Mount Vernon.
Lola was a faithful and devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, where she was a member of the Tried and True Sunday School Class. She had been a member of the Board of Christian Education and had served as a Deaconess for the church.
Surviving are her husband, M. Robert Statler, whom she married June 7, 1942; a daughter, Lynda Heinlein of Mount Vernon and her children, Kyle Heinlein and Rob Heinlein; a son, Gary (Nancy) Statler of Springfield and his children, Susan Judy and Martin Statler; a son, Dale (Rhonda) Statler of Mount Vernon and his children, Angela Naramore and Aaron Statler; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Orrel Lybarger of Mount Vernon.
Besides her parents Lola was preceded in death by her brother, Eldon Workman.
Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
