BELLVILLE — Duane H. Greer, 93, of Bellville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, in Hospice House of Ashland.
He was born June 2, 1915, in Greer to Eldon P. and Floy (Spearman) Greer, and graduated from Danville High School in 1933. A U.S. Army veteran, Duane served in World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Pauline Greer; son, Ralph Greer; daughter, Judy (Don) Davis; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Martha Staats of Danville and Marcella Pealer; numerous nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight Greer; and a sister, Mildred Greer.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, and also on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. The funeral service will immediately follow on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Mac Abbitt will officiate. Burial with military honors conducted by the Irvin Hiskey Post 535 American Legion, will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
