Grace Alice Lee

GALION — Grace Alice Lee, 87, of Galion died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at Village Care Center in Galion after a short illness.

Born Dec. 10, 1921, in Mount Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Owen Faulk and Mary (Marts) Faulk. She was preceded in death in 1980 by her husband, LaVerle Lee. Previously, she was married to Robert McCord, who died in 1963.

Grace was a graduate of Amity High School in Amity in 1939 and lived on Parson Street in Galion for over 50 years. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Galion Sewing Club, the Republican Women of Galion and worked for the election board for many years. She retired from Sears and Roebuck after 30 years as a credit manager.

Surviving are her two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis McCord of Houston and James and Susan McCord of Plano, Texas; two grandchildren, Matthew (Anne) McCord of Tulsa, Okla., and Bryan (Crystal) McCord of McKinney, Texas; one sister, Ruth Butcher of Mount Vernon; and also survived by nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held this morning at 10:30 at the Richardson-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Timothy Wingert officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
