UTICA — A funeral service for Myron “Abe” Ransom, 79, of Utica will be held Thursday, Jan. 8, at 1 p.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. Ric Harvel officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
Abe died Jan. 4, 2009, at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark. He was born Feb. 12, 1929, in Liberty Township/Knox County to the late John W. and Hattie (Dorr) Ransom. Abe was a member of Utica United Methodist Church. He retired from LRE and was a Boy Scout leader. Abe loved sports and coached his children’s teams.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn L. (Warman) Ransom of Utica; daughter, Vicki Ransom of Buckeye Lake; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Patty Ransom of Purity, Dave Ransom of Utica, Doug and Heidi Ransom of Mount Vernon, and Randy and Peg Ransom of Pataskala; grandchildren, Meghan (Steve) Davidson of Delaware, John (Lori) Ransom of Purity, Matt (Heather) Ransom of Newark, Tim (Darcy) Ransom of Newark, Elizah (Bonnie) Ransom of Gahanna, Ryan Ransom of Utica; two great-grandchildren, Donavan and Savanna Ransom; five stepgrandchildren, Barbara, Caleb, Dustin and Ethan Vernon, Elisha James; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Katlin Vernon and Alexandria James; and sisters, Harriet Gordon of Seville and Mary Frazier of Mount Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, George and Mark Ransom.
