MOUNT VERNON — Betty L. Hood, 84, formerly of Danville, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at the Rose Garden Nursing Home.

She was born Sept. 13, 1924, in Knox County to Arthur and Bernice (Bodle) Moreland. On Jan. 20, 1944, she was married to John F. Breckler, who died on June 27, 1944. She was married to William G. Hood on Feb. 8, 1948. He preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 2002. She was a member of the Riley Chapel Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 650.

She is survived by a son, Greg (Sandy) Hood of Danville; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Hood of Danville; grandchildren, Eric (Amanda) Hood of Laporte, Ind., Jason (Jackie) Hood, Josh (Deanna) Hood and Julie (Brad) McLarnan, all of Danville, Adam (Veronica) Hood of Mount Vernon, and Rhonda (Dave) Carter of Walhonding; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her first and second husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, William L. Hood, on Aug. 5, 2002.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 9, at 1 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. The Rev. Gary Weller will officiate. Burial will be in Riley Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
