GRAND RAPIDS — Lois NeWanna Dixon, 85, of Grand Rapids and formerly of Howard, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009.
Lois was born March 31, 1923, in Rock Island, Ill., to the late Frank A. and Waunetta M. (Deller) Smith. Mrs. Dixon was a homemaker. She enjoyed artistic painting, horseback riding and working in her flower gardens. Her favorite thing was to bake cookies so her cookie jar was always full when her grandchildren came to visit.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas (Barbara) Delcampo of Grand Rapids and Timothy (Shelley) Delcampo of Ann Arbor, Mich.; grandchildren, Teresa (Brady) Clements, Donna Finch, John Newton of Mount Vernon; great-grandchildren, Cindy and Chad Clements, Holly Kochis; great-great-grandchildren, Lydia Bean, Janice Kochis, all of Mount Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vincent Delcampo; her second husband, Robert Dixon; and her daughter of Mount Vernon, Janice T. Newton.
Funeral services were this morning at the Wright-Hobbs Funeral Home in Grand Rapids. The Rev. Jerry Wirtley presided. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Grand Rapids. Online condolences can be expressed at www.wright-hobbs.com.
