Maralyn L. Heinlein

MOUNT VERNON — Maralyn Lenore Heinlein, 87, went to be with her Lord on Jan. 2, 2009, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon, where she was a resident for the past eight years.

Maralyn was born June 14, 1921, in Toledo, the daughter of the late Karl E. and Ethyl (Rakestraw) Naugle. She graduated from Ohio University in 1943 receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in applied science. Maralyn was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ohio Nottingham Chapter 269, and Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon. She previously was a member of Euclid Lutheran Church in Euclid, and St. John’s Lutheran Church in London, Ohio. She was a retired teacher from the Euclid Public School System and a professional Girl Scout serving the Lake Erie Council.

In retirement, Maralyn enjoyed gardening, and was an instructor of water aerobics and line dancing. She spent many hours at her desktop computer e-mailing family and friends. Maralyn was also a dedicated volunteer and was recognized in 1997 with the Jean Smith Volunteer Award at Madison County Hospital.

Maralyn was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Leon (Treudley) Heinlein; daughter, Janice Lenore Heinlein; and brother, Karl E. Naugle.

She is survived by her sister, Ellen Jean Stone; three sons, Ronald (spouse Vickie E.) Heinlein, Keith (spouse Vickie A.) Heinlein, Leon (spouse Karen S.) Heinlein Jr.; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel at the Ohio Eastern Star Home, Mount Vernon, on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Acacia Park Cemetery in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, at a date to be determined.
