HOWARD — Richard “Dick” Lewis Cly, 59, of Apple Valley, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 29, 1949, in Mount Vernon to George Walter and Betty Jean (Beach) Cly. He was a member of the Millwood Church of Christ and the Mount Vernon Post of the American Legion, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by a son, Richard W. Cly, and a daughter, Amy Cly, both of Columbus; sisters, Helen (Donnie) Truex of Apple Valley, Jeannie (Randy) Frazee of Walhonding and Mary (Jack) Holland of Arizona; and granddaughters, Maysun and Mackenzie of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Walter Cly, who died Oct. 1, 2000, and Betty Jean Cly, who died Dec. 27, 2006.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. at the Millwood Church of Christ. Evangelist Dave Jones will officiate. Burial, with graveside military rites from the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will be in Workman Cemetery in Danville. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is handling arrangements; www.fischerfuneralhome.com.
