NEW LONDON, N.H. — Ann E. (Tabor) Keating, 73, of Newport Road, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
She was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, on Nov. 10, 1935, the daughter of Roland and Irene (Thomas) Tabor. She graduated from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She earned a degree in elementary education and taught school before her marriage to Hugh P. Keating. She and her late husband lived in Lakewood, Ohio, for 16 years before moving to Wilton, Conn., in 1975. Ann received a degree in paralegal studies and worked for the law firm of Pirro & Church in Norwalk, Conn., from 1983-87. She and her late husband moved to New London in 1988. Ann was a Chapter I reading teacher at Kearsarge Regional Elementary School in New London. She was a substitute teacher in Newport. Ann was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima in New London over the years. She was a member of the parish council, choir and Women’s Society. She taught religious education classes and made many crafts for the fairs held at church. Ann was a gifted artist. She was an avid reader and enjoyed nature and travel.
Members of her family surviving include six children, Kathleen A. Keating of Watertown, Mass., Kevin P. Keating of Dunbarton, N.H., Lorreen M. Keating of North Hampton, N.H., Brian P. Keating of Westborough, Mass., Maureen E. Keating of Belmont, Mass., and Sean H. Keating of Canaan, N.H.; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and two cats, Smokey Joe and Bridget.
Friends may call at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main St., New London, N.H., on Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, New London, N.H. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Franklin, N.H., later in the spring.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Christian Children’s Fund, Learning for Life.
