MOUNT VERNON — Eulalia B. Phillips, 96, of Mount Vernon died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.
Eulalia was born July 4, 1912, in Morrow County to Fleet R. Lemon Sr. and Goldie (Kennedy) Lemon and had spent most of her lifetime in Knox County. She was a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the United Methodist Women’s Flower Club and had served the church for several years as their treasurer. Eulalia had been a member of Liberty Grange for 63 years and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Surviving are her brother, Fleet R. (Eloise) Lemon Jr. of Sardis, Ohio; her stepdaughter, Joy Allison of Mansfield; stepgrandson, Bobby (Twila) Allison of Fredericktown; several nieces and nephews; her sister-in-law, Francis Phillips; her friend, Polly Rowe and many longtime friends.
Besides her parents, Eulalia was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert H. Phillips; her brothers, James D. Lemon, Foster E. (Katherine) Lemon and Clifford L. (Letha) Lemon; and her sisters, Eleanor Bowsher and Evelyn (Howard) Boner.
Friends may call Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Additional calling hours will be Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Green Valley United Methodist Church, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Sam Troyer officiating. Burial will follow at Green Valley Cemetery.
