MOUNT VERNON — William R. “Bill” Piar, 50, of Mount Vernon passed away on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 10, 2009, near Mount Vernon.
He was born Sept. 15, 1958, in Mount Vernon, son of Ronald and Jean (Depinet) Piar. Bill was a 1976 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and after graduation went on to Kenyon College in Gambier and played football for two years. Bill’s loves in life were his daughters, sports and his canine companion, Sassy.
In addition to his parents, Bill is survived by his children, Megan (Mike) Replogle of Taneytown, Md., Erin Piar of Harrodsburg, Ky., Courtney Piar of Taneytown, Md., and Whitney Piar of Knoxville, Tenn.; a grandson, Chase Replogle; a brother, Michael Piar of San Francisco, Calif.; sisters, Rhonda (Jim) MacAndrew of Dallas, Texas, Madalyn Piar-Katter of Portland, Ore., and Jacqueline (Cyrus) Thomas of Houston, Texas; nephews, Jeff and Sam Katter of Portland, Ore.
The family will receive friends today, Jan. 13, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, with a Rosary service at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Mark J. Hammond as the celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 4-H c/o Knox County Community and Natural Resource Development, 1025 Harcourt Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
