MOUNT VERNON — Carroll E. Gleeson, 73, of East Ohio Avenue, Mount Vernon, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born Dec. 20, 1935, in Knox County to the late Harold and Alice (Rinehart) Gleeson. Carroll retired in 2002 after 46 years of employment with Cooper Energy Services in Mount Vernon. He was a 50-year member of the Monroe Grange, a member of the International Association of Machinist Local 90 and Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Carroll served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Donna (Ashcraft) Gleeson; two daughters, Cheri (Steve) Schultz of Howard and Lori Gleeson of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew Schultz; a brother, Jerry (Nancy) Gleeson of Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Mary (Larry) Sapp of Howard and Dorothy Howard of Mount Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Pastors William Fennell and Jon Jones will officiate. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
