BLADENSBURG — Raymond M. Rine, 80, of Bladensburg passed away Jan. 20, 2009, at Summerville at HillenVale.
He was born Dec. 12, 1928, to the late George H. and Osa Pearl (Sterrett) Rine on the family farm in Butler Township where he continued the family vocation of farming. Raymond was very active in his community with many years of public service as a Butler Township trustee, East Knox School Board member, Bladensburg School Board member, and a 4-H leader. He was also a member of Dennis Church of Christ, the Dennis Church Cemetery Association, Farm Bureau, Bladensburg Community Institute and Butler Grange.
He is survived by his sons, Steve Rine and John (Vickie) Rine; daughter, Debra Rine-Grosscup; grandchildren, Darci Rine, Brittney (Rob) Ferguson, Autumn and Dylan Grosscup, and Shannon and Shelby Rine; a sister, Anna Kinnard; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Dolores (Davis) Rine; a brother, Robert (Teresa) Rine; and a sister, Pauline (Harold) Pelton.
Raymond enjoyed farming, hunting, his wife’s family dinners and delicious pies, and playing euchre. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Friends and family may call Thursday, Jan. 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bladensburg Church of Christ in Bladensburg, where funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Dennis Church Cemetery. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Bladensburg is handling the funeral arrangements for the Rine family.
