UTICA — A funeral service for Robert E. Beever, 89, of Utica will be held Friday, Jan. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Homer United Methodist Church with Jack Clouston officiating. Burial will follow in Homer Cemetery.
Mr. Beever died Jan. 19, 2009, at his residence. He was born Nov. 8, 1919, in Burlington Township, Licking County, to the late Robert F. and Mary A. (Mason) Beever. He was a member of Homer United Methodist Church. Mr. Beever was a World War II Army veteran, a Disabled American Veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from Columbia Gas in 1976, was employed part time by Producers Livestock and farmed.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mabel M. (Swick) Beever of Utica; sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Chrittie Beever, Ronald and Eileen Beever, all of Homer; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Brad Steele of South Carolina; grandchildren, Jason Lillyanna Beever of Michigan, Greg and Amy Beever of South Carolina, Kay and Steve Straley of Homer, Vicki Taylor of Dayton, Jennifer Steele of Lynchburg, Brian and Zippi Steele of Guam, Eric and Allison Steele of Gonzales, La., and Justin Steele of South Carolina; stepgrandchildren, Gary and Jacque LaRue of Newark, Holly and Bob Sunkle of Mount Vernon, Kathy and Larry Walpole of Newark, Barbara Cluck of Sparta, Donald LaRue of Tennessee, and Cheryl and John Goodman of Homer; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald Beever of Gladwyne, Pa., Neil and JoAnn Beever of Homer; and sister-in-law, Geneva Beever of Mount Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, William Russell Beever and Charles Clayton Beever; and sister-in-law, Jane Beever.

Friends may call Thursday, Jan. 22, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica.
