MOUNT VERNON — Jack A. Wantland, 48, of Mount Vernon died Jan. 20, 2009, in Parkersburg, W.Va.

He was born April 3, 1960, in Mount Vernon to Jack E. and Marie S. (Hunter) Wantland. Jack enjoyed woodworking, being a mechanic but most of all spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Jeremy Silliman and Michael Ray Wantland, a daughter, Lisa Wantland, his father, Jack E. Wantland, all of Mount Vernon; brother, Jon (Rita) Wantland of Coshocton; six grandchildren; grandmother, Ida Mae Hunter of Mount Vernon; aunts, Barbara George and Betty (Louis) Franker; great-aunt, Sylvia Hardesty; good friend, Jeffrey Bateman; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie S. Wantland; grandfathers, Ray Wantland and Robert Hunter; and grandmother, Edna Wantland.

Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Pastor Dan Taylor officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to Green Valley Southern Baptist Church, 1680 Old Delaware Road, Mount Vernon.
