MOUNT VERNON — Eugene P. “Gene” Jamboski, 91, of Mount Vernon passed away Friday evening, Jan. 23, 2009, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon surrounded by his family.
He was born June 25, 1917, in Youngstown, a son of the late Eugene Pete and Rose (Kovolck) Jamboski. Gene was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Mount Vernon. He was an inspector in Quality Control for Cooper Industries in Mount Vernon. Gene was a member of the Mount Zion Masonic Lodge 9, Free and Accepted Masons in Mount Vernon, where he served as secretary of the Lodge for many years. He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Knox Chapter 236.
Gene is survived by his son, Thomas Jamboski of Lewis Center; his daughters, Ruth Ann Jamboski of Columbus and Peggy Stewart of Columbus; four grandchildren, Loriann Palmer, Raejean Poland, Travis Stewart and Mandy Craze; and five great-grandchildren, Stephen Heffelfinger, Tara Heffelfinger, Austin Heffelfinger, Cody Gardner and Samantha Poland.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Nina (Humphrey) Jamboski; and a sister, Frances Jamboski.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Keith Stuart officiating. Burial will follow in the Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon. The Mount Zion Masonic Lodge 9 will conduct Masonic Services at the funeral home today at 7 p.m.
