MOUNT VERNON — Geraldine E. Drabick, 94, of Mount Vernon passed away Friday morning, Jan. 23, 2009, in the Palliative Care Unit at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon surrounded by her family.
She was born July 20, 1914, in Fredericktown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Myrtle (Overly) Bevington. Geraldine was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon and had worked for the Citizens Savings and Loan in Mount Vernon. She also had worked at the Rectory of St. Vincent de Paul and the KCH Thrift Shop. Geraldine was a member of a Bridge Club in Mount Vernon for 27 years; she enjoyed golfing, traveling, raising horses and loved all of her pets. She was an avid Ohio State fan.
Geraldine is survived by her children, Karen (Dick) Refeld-Wunderlin of Mount Vernon, Kathy (Randy) Lanning of Mount Vernon, Richard (Rehanna) Drabick of Okinawa, Japan, and Rose Drabick of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Kim (Michael) Gbur, Stacey Lanning, Tessa Drabick, Aly Drabick and Liz Drabick; five great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Drabick of Pennsylvania.
In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Dan Drabick, on June 16, 1990; a son, Rodger Drabick; and a brother, Charles J. Bevington.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon with the Rev. Father David Porterfield as the celebrant. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
