Paulyne A. Leyda

MOUNT VERNON — Paulyne A. Leyda, 80, of Mount Vernon died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at her residence.

Paulyne was born July 16, 1928, in Cleveland and moved to Mount Vernon in 1966 from Shreve, Ohio. She was a 1946 graduate of Shreve High School and had been a medical assistant for Dr. Dan Smith in Mount Vernon for several years. Paulyne was an active member of the Mount Vernon Salvation Army, enjoyed painting, sewing, and surfing the Internet.

Surviving are her son, Jack (Lori) Boesken of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Lori Starmer of Mount Vernon; a stepson, Rob Leyda of West Virginia; grandchildren, Christina (Shawn) Wooden, Jordan Starmer, Olivia Starmer, Daniel Harper and Lauren (Bob) Parsons; and great-grandson, Logan Wooden.

Paulyne was preceded in death by her parents, Newell D. Tarman and Ruth (Porter) Tarman Musser; her husband, Albert Leyda; a daughter, Beth Boesken; a brother, Jack Tarman; and a stepbrother, Leo Musser.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St. in Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Salvation Army, 206 E. Ohio Ave., Mount Vernon, with Maj. Robert Bender officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
